Studies Curriculum |
 |
All students who decide to major or minor in religious
studies should obtain a member of the religious studies
department as advisor and plan their courses of study in
consultation with their advisor.
The Religious Studies major consists of 10 courses,
including one introductory course, four courses in a
concentration to be worked out in consultation with the
student’s advisor, two integrative courses, two elective
courses outside the concentration and a senior thesis.
Concentrations may, for example, consist of religious
traditions (Asian, Western, Judaism), themes (Philosophy of
Religion and Ethics, Gender and Women’s Studies), historical
periods (e.g. Religion in the Contemporary Period), or
geographical areas (e.g. Middle Eastern Studies, Religion in
the Americas).
The minor consists of 6 courses, three in a concentration,
two outside the concentration, and 180.
Students may petition the chair of the department to take a
specific major or minor course on a P/NC grading option.
Students may also petition the chair to receive credit for
Religious Studies coursework or project work completed
during study abroad programs.
